Hilda has a BFA in Painting and Design from Carnegie Mellon University and an MA from Hunter College, NYC. Three instructors who influenced her were Josef Albers, Tony Smith and George Sugarman. She received numerous national and regional fellowships including a Fulbright Fellowship to The Netherlands and a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship to Italy.Some exhibitions include the Galeria Nacional in Costa Rico, the Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greenberg, PA and most recently, Saginaw Museum of Art in MI and Iona College in New Rocelle, NY. She is a member of Pleiades Gallery, NYC., Mamaroneck Artists Guild,Larchmont, NY and the Katonah Museum Artists Association in Katonah.
My paintings oscillate between image and physical experience, between painting and sculpture, and between landscape and abstraction. Some two dimensional paintings are rolled into cylinders. I allow natural light to filter through them.
