Margaret Ann Withers is an artist who lives and works in New York city. Her paintings are fragmentary narrative landscapes that contain a flash of action or the hint of a non-linear narrative floating within a chaotic ‘landscape’. The tiny houses and telephone poles in her paintings are often hidden in a chaotic landscape, where it seems that some cosmic change has just occurred, where the landscape has been been jiggled and this is what’s left to this world. The stories that accompany her paintings are about the people who live within the tiny houses. Her ceramic “lächelmachle” sculptures are three dimensional representations of her paintings.
