All that Jazz
Patterns in Nature
New York, NY
Regina Silvers has been involved with fine art for her whole adult life, as a teacher, curator, art consultant, museum public relations manager; founder and President of TOAST, the TriBeCa Open Artist Studio Tour; founder and Director of the Gallery at Hastings-on-Hudson, and always, practicing artist. She currently manages the White Street Studio, (which she shares with other artists) where she has been making her artwork since 1990.
I draw and I paint. The focus of my work changes as my life changes. Political/activist paintings are a visual diary of my social activism and concern for democracy. The NYC images derive from drawing from my balcony. The Jazz series results from listening and drawing at the weekly Jam Sessions of the NY Jazz Foundation, over a period of almost 2 years. Nature-based paintings grew out of years of sketching while walking on trails, sitting in streams, climbing up mountains. The common thread is my experience.
